September 30 - Depart Detroit for Johannesburg

October 1 - Arrive Jo'burg - Sun Rock Guest House

October 2 - Transfer by chartered plane to Ngala Game Reserve

October 3 & 4 - Ngala Game Reserve

Located in the northern region of the Greater Kruger area known as the Timbavati region, that boasts of game-richness having highest densities of lion, cheetah and 400 species of birds. Game drives are conducted by keen photographers and wildlife enthusiasts who also maintain radio contact to provide optimal chances of special sightings. Here you will experience the thrill of adventuresome South African safaris so get ready to duck under thorn bushes, bounce down dried up river beds to chase the wildlife for those award winning photos.

October 5 - Transfer by chartered flight from Ngala Game Reserve to Sun Rock Guest House

October 6  - Fly from Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport to Durban - King Shaka Airport

Here we will be met by our historian and charming guide Henry Bird who will introduce us to the magnificent countryside  north of Durban along the Indian Ocean, known as Kwa Zulu Natal.

Along the way Henry will inform you about the fierce and competitive Zulu warriors who were so successful in their bravery and warfare tactics to defeat the British army.

Our accommodations for tonight are at Protea Shakaland, a native Zulu village to learn about their culture and traditions that are still practiced today as they were two hundred years ago. Your evening will be a lively performance with music and dance by the Zulus and provide a great opportunity to photograph the Zulus in their native dress.

Following the concert you will be treated to an endless buffet dinner located in an open air

dining hall which overlooks the mountainous hillside of Kwa Zulu Natal.

October 7 -  Eshowe, Zululand - Henry Bird our enthusiastic tour guide will once again meet us and transfer us to the Bird Of Paradise B & B that is a hidden gem in the capital city of Eshowe and home to many birds and indigenous plants.

October 7 & 8 - Eshowe, Zululand - While here you will have sightseeing tours throughout the rolling hills and countryside and get a glimpse of how the Zulus practice their customs and traditions as they did two hundred years ago. An opportunity to speak with the natives along the way and to photograph as you wish promises to fill your days with fun and memorable experiences of where time has stood still. Zululand is the "PULSE" of Africa and our host Henry Bird will create that Zulu energy as soon as he meets us!

October 9 - Depart late morning with Henry Bird to transfer to Thula Thula!

October 10 - Thula Thula

Thula Thula - means "Peace & Tranquility".  Embrace life with nature on the former private hunting grounds of King Shaka - founder of the Zulu culture. Home of the late Lawrence Anthony and author of "The Elephant Whisperer" and his wife Francoise Malby - Anthony - a Parisian gourmet chef! Once you read "The Elephant Whisperer" you will be driven to embrace the opportunity to see these amazing elephants who were rescued and saved by Lawrence. Upon Lawrence's death in 2012 the elephants walked for twelve hours to visit his home where they stayed for two days to mourn his death. Experience a REAL SOUTH AFRICAN braai (wood fire barbeque) in the bush, under the stars, sipping on wine and listening to the nocturnal sounds of nature!

October 11 - Fly from King Shaka Airport - Durban to Cape Town

October 11,12,13 - depart 14th - Cape Town

While in Cape Town your accommodations are in luxury self-catering apartments in the historical part of the city known as the City Bowl. There is a fine restaurant attached to the hotel that offers exquisite meals for a very low price. Across the street is a deli that serves fresh breads, fruits, ready to go meals and even a sushi bar.

Green Market Square in the historical centre of town has a daily market for purchasing souvenirs and shops are filled with beautiful gems of gold, silver, diamonds and Tanzanite! The shops are filled with temptations!

Excursions Included:

Hop On & Off Double Decker bus - A great way to see Cape Town and the various museums to visit. The bus takes you to Table Mt. where one has the opportunity of going up by cable car to the top of Table Mt. to view the beauty of Cape Town and its coastline.

Stellenbosch - the oldest historical town in South Africa situated in the heart of vineyards producing world class wines.

Stellenbosch is an interesting University town that has unique shops with handsome African souvenirs, classy jewelry and fine restaurants.

Clos Malverne Wine Estate - A gourmet lunch paired with their various wines is sure an occasion that you will note as one of your most enjoyable experiences!


Cape Point - a pleasant drive through the countryside to reach Cape Point to see from a high point where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet.

Kirstenbosch Gardens - a magnificent property donated by Cecil Rhodes and known for its indigenous trees, shrubs and flowers, including South Africa's many varieties of protea.

Simon's Town to see the only penguins known to South Africa that exist along the shore of Boulder's Beach.

Christian Barnard Museum - A very worthwhile program filled with films and talks about Dr. Christian Barnard, the re-enactment of his surgery in the room that it all took place and as well the history of the donor and recipient of the first heart transplant.
