Moments in South Africa

Posted on 12/31/2013 by C & R Miller in South Africa

There are moments in life when it is difficult to put an experience into mere words, but I want to endeavour to do so.  South Africa was simply a country of great contrasts - Majestic in it's landscapes and seascapes with larger than life wildlife and sealife, mountainous regions, glorious fruit plantations, spectacular sunsets, and a rich cultural history.  South Africa was also Quaint....... in it's lovely rural towns and villages dotted with windy roads filled with brilliant colours of native flora and the respectful and dignified indigenous peoples and culture. To identify highlights - again this is a challenging task.  For us, having the opportunity to observe and photograph lions, elephants, cheetahs, etc. in their natural habitant was beyond exciting! Our trip certainly met our hopes and dreams regarding that!

What we had not realized fully was the extent to which the entire experience would indeed be an ongoing series of highlights!  The beauty and kindness of the South African peoples often paled in comparison with the natural beauty of the country.  Everywhere our tour took us, the residents of South Africa welcomed us with smiles, food, and good old-fashioned hospitality.  To have the opportunity to meld into the cultural fabric was simply delightful!  The cuisine was excellent with quality and freshness of produce beyond comparison. The vineyards, wine tasting, and wine pairing was an experience in itself. Our tour guides were so unbelievably knowledgeable about the flora, fauna, and all things current and historical in nature.  For our very curious minds, our adventures were extremely educational in the most interesting way!  To understand more completely the struggles and triumphs of the nation made our South African - trip of a lifetime - absolutely mind blowing!

From Lions to Penquins, from Mountains to Desert, from Oceans to Watering Holes, from Cape Town to a small Rural Village, it will be the South African culture that will so beautifully tie your travel experience into an intricate bow........
